Voice Actor Chronicles - Episode 15 - Veronica Taylor
My first NY-based VAC pic in a while, for a woman who needs no introduction, but gets one anyhow, Veronica Taylor! Her characters on this one include: Tamara from Shaman King (top right), Amelia Tesla from Slayers (bottom right), Yuya Shiina from Samurai Deeper Kyo (bottom left), Jody Summer from F-Zero GP Legend (top) and of course, the ORIGINAL voice of Ash Ketchum (left), May (right) and Diglett (bottom) from Pokemon and carried such roles for about 8 years. Veronica's another NY-based voice actor I have a lot of respect for. She definitely shines above many others, and puts a lot of love and effort into every character I've heard her as. Not hearing her on Pokemon anymore still angers me to this day. Also, for some reason I completely forgot two other BIG roles she's had, including April O'Neal from the new TMNT cartoon, and Miyabi from Ninja Nonsense. Eh, either case I think this one turned out really well. I got to fool around with a bunch of different drawing styles, especially in the characters' faces. I'll be giving this to her at the upcoming NYAnimeFest. |

I made this ridiculous name during my "metro" phase and got the name from "Viewtiful Joe." Now I'm considering getting a new account just to get a new name here.
I got to talk to her at AFO, and she nearly started crying over the fact that she got replaced as the voice for Ash.

Blame 4kids. Contractual loophole fucked up the old casts' chances to continue playing the characters.
She definitely teared up when she mentioned it.
I mean, to play a character for eight years, and suddenly be told, "So yeah, you're no longer Ash." has to have been a big blow.
4kids sure knows what they're doing. *reeks with sarcasim*

I was planning on telling her and Racheal about how much support there's been for all of the old cast since the switch. Now I'm afraid of bringing up drama o_O;
When I talked to her, she had just received the news not to long beforehand.
It's been many months, and she may not be as emotional as she was then.
I, myself, cant even bring myself to watch pokemon without the original cast, at all.
I'm a HUGE Slayers fan, it's my favourite anime, and to have pokemon with the same english cast was too perfect.
Seeing other people fail miserably at trying to imitate, just doesnt do it for me.

Me: Huh... I always thought she was 10 years old...
It's nothing against them personally.
It's just really weird not to have the same cast I grew up with.
I mean, from 5th grade, 'till I gratuated high school, I'm so used to the original cast.
The same thing happened to One Piece as well, didnt it?
