-THE ORIGINAL-
"Nailock" was one of THE most popular characters in the original TvTome Adventures, which personally was very cool to me because he was based on a real life friend of mine that helped me get interested in places like Newgrounds and Fireball20xl. Colin (the joke is Colin spelled backwards is Niloc, said like "Nye-lock") was, in fact, the complete opposite of the character based on him, who was much more energetic and boisterous. Nailock was the funniest of the main characters, but truthfully it was only because I actually WROTE humor for him (and Kirbopher) where as my writing on the other characters was too focused on being played straight. It was that lightheartedness and energy I think that made Nailock stand out to people among the rest.

-THE NEW-
So, with this being a very popular character and the main source of comedy relief, I wanted to give special attention to the newly-christened "Nylocke". From the very first sketches I drew of his redesign, I had already come up with his new personality, based on that now-infamous pose of him shouting in the air "NYLOCKE! INSERT CLEVER MONIKER HERE!" (I later made it a rule to incorporate the word "Dragon" or "Master" into each title). Things didn't truly come together for him until I made the decision to cast Martin Billany (LittleKuriboh) to perform his voice, which believe it or not, he was NOT my first thought. Funnily enough, Blake Swift and Casey Mongillo (who later went on to voice Alpha and Gamecrazed, respectively) were amongst my earlier ideas for casting Nylocke, but once Martin's mish-mash of all his well-known character voices came together for Nylocke's voice, it almost seemed insane that I DIDN'T think of him first. I'll brag a little and say was a smart choice, because every recording session with Martin is an absolute joy when he's performing Nylocke. In the four episodes that have been completed as of this point, Nylocke's appeared in each one of them to some capacity for good reason. An old teacher of ours in High School often joked that Colin had attained enlightenment because of how calm he always was. In a way, I think Nylocke has attained the TOME-equivalent to enlightenment, in that he's a completely infallible, unbridled force of good. His player has found this balance of taking the game just seriously enough to be exceptional at it, even going so far as to try and stop the hackers that impede on his world, yet he still views the entire thing as a big game...NAY, an epic adventure, never breaking character so that he can live this incredible "story" to its fullest...at least in his own mind. I'm glad people love this character even more now; it's no wonder he ranked as the #1 fan favorite!
