Artist's Comments

A Thing, with stuff.

And Junk.

Yeah I'm still around. Been doing QUITE a bit of art since the Earthbound piece, but mostly stuff I'm not putting on DA. Decided to try my new shading/coloring style on something to submit publicly. The design ended up being more "goth" than I wanted, so I thought the background would work alright.

Feedback/critique on this one MUCH appreciated.

Pros: I love the perspective you tried and its pretty well done.

Cons: Her arm seems a bit too much bigger then her hand in front. It would look better if a.) the hand was bigger or b.) the arm would shrink alittle.

In order to create the illusion, you have to slowly work your way from the back, forward, keeping the shoulder in proportion with the body, as the rest of the arm gets bigger as the hand comes out.

Her arm seems to have an awkward shape. It looks like it should come out from behind her middle finger and down to at least the end of the knuckle of her ring finger, or be a little smaller. Her nose and mouth also look a little too far down on her face.

Also, there's movement in her body, and some in her shirt, but not quite in her hair. Her hair also looks a bit...chunky...I suppose. It doesn't look as natural as it could.

Just some basic issues that most people have. Overall, it is good. The bright highlighter yellow of her nails was an interesting choice against the darkness of her clothes and hair.

I was originally gonna go with a purple shade for the nails, but lime green/hilighter yellow (har, never thought of that) was suggested by a friend and I rolled with it.

You did a really good job on the shading. Her face looks a bit chimp like to me though. But that's just me.

Considering your normal style of art, this is HUGE! Prespective is actually there, shape and form is great, and there's you're own style mixed in as well! Fantastic!

Right and wrong are not what separate us and our enemies. It's our different standpoints, our perspectives that separate us. Both sides blame one another. There's no good or bad side. Just two sides holding different views.

I am quite impressed. The nose and mouth could be a little higher on the face. And I bet you could take out the back hand and it wouldn't be a problem (it needs to be bigger). I'm curious about what design is on the shirt from the front. (That's not a drawing critique. I'm just curious.)

Its probably just me, but the shirt seems too fine, as in it doesn't seem to have that many wrinkles. Maybe I'm just a wrinkle-phobe, but I think you such practice drawing clothing and getting all the finer details in them.

Good call with the background, it lightens the whole image after the goth like appearence of the character. I can't fault you on the perpective either. It's a very bold pose to go for but the proportions of the perpective are fine.

Her face seems a bit long but part of it might be the possition of her right eye, it seems a bit high in her face. Her arm looks like it should continue beyond the peace sign but I'm not sure if the shape of her arm would allow that. Her hair could stand to flow a bit more but beyond that I don't see anything else.
